About the book:
In Eric Carle's, The Tiny Seed, he uses beautiful collages strung together with text to tell the story of a flowering plant's life cycle. The story also touches upon the different seasons and the characteristics of each as they relate to the life cycle of a plant.
This book is fantastic. The way Eric Carle tells the story, along with his fantastic illustrations makes makes you feel like you're going through a journey with the seed throughout the book. This is so important for children because it is teaching them all about the life cycle of a plant in such an engaging way. Creating this type of story to go along with informational text makes it so much more authentic. Younger children will probably get more out of the pictures than the actual text but for elementary students, this book is a great resource to support a lesson on plant's beginning life and can be used for numerous enrichment activities before, during, and after a lesson about plan life is introduced. Overall, I give this book a 4 out of 5.
