About the book:
Corduroy is the story of a bear with green overalls who lives in a department store, waiting for someone to buy him and take him home. Finally, one day a little girl, Lisa, sees him and instantly wants to bring him home, but her mother won't let her and notices that he's missing a button anyways. That night after everyone had left, Corduroy decided that he had to go looking for his missing button so that he could fix his overalls and someone would want to take him home. He doesn't have any luck but the next day, to his surprise, Lisa comes back with enough money to buy Corduroy and take him home. Lisa shows Corduroy his new home and even has a bed especially for Corduroy. The book ends with Corduroy telling Lisa that he has always wanted a friend.

Book Review
Corduroy is a classic story that will always be an important part of my childhood. It's a sentimental story about friendship and that you don't have to be perfect, to be loved. The fact that Corduroy didn't find his missing button but Lisa still came back for him relays an important message about love and acceptance. Even at the end when Lisa is sewing Corduroy a new button, she tells him that she likes him all the same without it, but wants him to have another button so that his overalls are more comfortable. This story is a great one to share with young children.
