About the book:
Seven Blind Mice is a tale about seven different color mice who were surprised to find something by their pond one day. For the next seven days, the mice take turns trying to figure out what that something is. Each mouse investigates only part of the something leading them each to different ideas about what the something is. It's not until Sunday, the final day, when the white mouse decides to examine the entire something to determine what it is. The white mouse climbs up one side, and down the other then across the top and from end to end. She determines that it is an elephant and that all of the parts that the other six mice saw make up the entire elephant.
Book Review:
I love this book. I give it a 4 out of 5 owls. I think the illustrations are terrific using different textures and colors to enhance the details of the story. Young matches the color of each mouse to their interpretation of what the unknown object is. For example, the green mouse sees a snake that is illustrated in green. This story is a great story for teachers to use when teaching a lesson about morals. It could help explain the importance of looking at the whole idea before drawing conclusions which is another important idea that children should know. Seven Blind Mice can be used to support a lesson that involves children and encourages them to make their own predictions about what the object is in addition to other prediction related activities. This story is simple, cute, and relatable.
i love the cover page and how the mice are drawn with their tales intertwined between each other. also the rainbow cover page really catches my eye and makes me want to read the story.
ReplyDeleteYes, the author's use of color on the cover and throughout the text really enhances the story. It's simple yet appeals to the eye and keeps you focused on the different colors used in association with what each mouse anticipates the big something to be.
