This weeks book topic -- Decodable Texts!

Decodable text is a type of text often used in beginning reading instruction.
Decodable texts allow readers to decipher words using the phonics skills they have been taught.

About the book:
"The Visit" is a part of Bobs Books - Set 5 which focuses on long vowels and the silent e.

An example of the silent e used in the book is u-e as in tune
An example of the long vowel combination used is oa as in toad

The story itself is about two friends, Mouse and Toad, who live a little ways away from each other. One day Toad called Mouse to arrange a visit to Mouse's house. On the way to Mouse's house Toad has a hard time crossing the road because all of the traffic speeding by. No one would stop or slow down to let Toad cross the road. After awhile, Mouse saw that Toad was having a hard time and decided to come up with a plan. Mouse made a sign that said "STOP" on one side and "TOAD CROSSING" on the other. She waved it all around until all of the cars, trucks, bikes, busses, and motor bikes stopped and let Toad cross to get to Mouse's house.
