About the book:
"Would you rather... jump in the brambles for 25
cents, swallow a dead frog for 50 cents or stay all night in a creepy house for
$1.00??" These are the kinds of questions that John Burningham
asks his readers to think about throughout his book. The entire story is based
on a little boy, illustrated in each picture, who is presented with numerous,
funny scenarios that he has to consider and decide his outcome.
Book Review:
I love this book! This is another picture book that I found
in my childhood library back home and couldn't wait to read again. I was just
as excited and amused reading it now than I remember being as a kid. It
presents children with the opportunity to make decisions and problem solve
while using their imaginations. The choices and pictures that go along are both
disgusting and hilarious for children to read. This book definitely provides
plenty of creative writing opportunities as well that would encourage children
to make up their own "would you rathers". I am so happy that my mom
held onto all of these great picture books, and that I'm able to look back and
appreciate them even more now that I'm older. Overall, I give this book a 5 out
of 5.
I love the little owls as your rating scale! This book sounds like a great read for children!
